Congratulatory Message from Dr. Chungwon Choue,
President of the World Taekwondo Federation
Dearest athletes, officials, families, and fans,
I would like to send to you my warmest welcome to, and congratulations on, this occasion of the WTF-sanctioned German Open 2010.
This event is one of the most renowned international taekwondo championships that there is. It has a long and prestigious history that continues to attract world class competitors from around the globe. The WTF is very excited and pleased to sanction this tournament.
The German Open 2010 is yet another incredible part of this year’s list of extraordinary occasions. In January, our taekwondo family grew to 190 nations as Oman joined the World Taekwondo Federation. This May will mark the 2nd WTF World Para-Taekwondo Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia, and in August, taekwondo will be one of the core sports in the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. All of these events show that taekwondo has become a universal sport bound by no limits; not by age, gender, race, nationality, nor physicality.
My sincerest congratulations go out to the organizers of this outstanding event for bringing together the finest athletes from around the world. To those athletes that are participating in this event, I wish you the best of luck on a successful tournament and hope that you achieve all of your goals and dreams.
Best wishes,
Chungwon Choue
President of the World Taekwondo Federation

I am very delighted to let you know, that, for the third time, the German Taekwondo
Federation is able to host the German Open 2010 in the free and hanseatic city of
Hamburg. Being grateful to inform you about the most important and latest news:
We are very proud, that we have arranged the German Open 2010 to be a WTF
sanctioned tournament. This means: every single achieved point will be added in the
WTF ranking system. This decision was preceded by a long and extensive check-up.
Being honored because of this affiliation as one of the world’s most important tournaments
in the sports of Taekwondo, we will do the best we can to live up to the expectations
of the title as a WTF sanctioned tournament.
All of this will not have been possible without the support of our members and friends.
It would not habe been possible without our sportsmen, who are always trying to be
on top, who are always trying to achieve the best results and who are always trying
to satisfy their ambition. It would not have been possible without our organizing
committee, which is preparing this event since months to guarantee a high level of
professionality on every stage.
I also would like to take this opportunity to thank the Department for Culture, Sports
and Media of the city of Hamburg for supporting the sport of Taekwondo. Without
their enthusiastic help, the event, in this manner, would not have been possible.
Another important fact that has to be mentioned here is our new sponsor DaxSports /
adidas. Our athletes are already looking forward to get in use of this high level quality
equipment.
In the end I would like to make clear, why the upcoming championships are more
important than ever: The German Open 2010 will provide a big platform to compete
with the finest athletes all over the world. I herewith wish all athletes to achieve their
goals with luck and success, the referees to be on the qui vive and interesting competitions
for all spectators.
Yours
Heinz Gruber
President of the German Taekwondo Federation
